April 2025

Visit Bergamo website

Join me in the magical Bergamo

for a complete immersion in Contact Tango

with the opportunity for soothing forest bathing

and adventurous hiking.

Contact Tango is the unique and playful fusion of

Contact Improvisation and Tango Argentino dance styles.

I propose a more 'vertical'/ 'standing' Contact Improvisation dance

and a more 'elastic' Argentine Tango.

We will sometimes use mats and cushions to work on the floor.

These two dance styles share the fundamental elements of connection and improvisation.

We will work on technical aspects as well as fostering creativity and expression.

The studio is located 10 minutes walk from a large protected forest

(see pictures on the side) and there are several hiking routes nearby.

I am happy to share that this year, I will celebrate 30 years of working with the fusion of Contact Improvisation and Tango Argentino. Along the way, I ventured out to play also with dance films and new technologies such as Isadora, choreographed a few Contact Tango pieces, gained a BA in Dance & Related Arts and an MA in Dance Anthropology, certified as a Pilates and Fascial Fitness practitioner, delve into Japanese Butoh, Ideokinesis, Core Awareness and other somatic practices, presented my academic work at various international conferences and organized the very first International Contact Tango meeting in 2012 at Ponderosa, under the name of Tango Diferente - see video below.

Some of my works can also be viewed in the video below.

It is a pleasure to offer this event near where I lived as a teenager, where

I competed in the local Valle Imagna Athletic team, fell in love with volleyball,

organized my first rock concert and curated art exhibitions. It seems that I had an interdisciplinary approach from the very beginning!

I trust that a wonderful group will gather for this retreat. Join us!

Contact Tango Easter Retreat in Bergamo [Italy]

Theme: "The microscopic & the invisible."

18-19-20-21 April 2025

These four days offer:

10 hours of studio-based work facilitated by Adriana Pegorer

10 + hours of dancing / forest bathing/short hiking adventures

By attuning to the natural environment and slowing down,

we can observe what is often invisible and too small to be noticed.

We will then apply this awareness to our movement's curiosity and dancing.

All levels. Everybody welcome.

Beginners in either Tango or CI are welcome, but write to me first!

Max participants: 14

Full Price: 160 EUR / 40 EUR per day (Accommodation is not included - see below)

Pay 50 EUR deposit before Sunday the 16th of March to secure your place and pay the rest at arrival.

Select 'Change amount' on my Stripe page using the button below.

Bursary / reduced fee available (see below)

We will work at this beautiful studio:

We meet at the studio on Friday the 18th of April at 10 am for a welcoming circle.

We will decide the schedule together daily to take advantage of the good weather.

If most participants arrive early on Thursday the 17th, we could go out together for dinner or a drink. TBC

We will structure the four days depending on the weather and the participant's desires.

For example, 2/4 hours of tuition before lunch or before/after dinner.

Dancing time could be allocated after the classes

Walking time to nearby woods can be taken on your own or as a group. For longer hikes, we will need to coordinate them as a group - see below under HIKING.

This flexibility is possible because I have booked the studio daily from 9 am to 10 pm.

Her knowledge and love for the matter are incredible". (Bel, GERMANY)

PRACTICALITIES AND OTHER PIECES OF INFORMATION:

Sessions: For more information on my way of working, you can visit my blog, particularly this previous Intensive.

We will work using the floor for somatic releasing exercises and standing for tango - however, the two will inform each other, of course! For example, working on the spiral body on the mat will enhance your body availability for sacadas, enrosques, moulinetes (tango steps) and also the simple technique of leading and following! Or, working on the connection between the partners during tango exercises, will develop a reciprocal awareness and dialogue.

Contact me for more information.

Travel:

How to get to Bergamo link

Nearest airport: Milano Bergamo

Nearest train station: Bergamo

Tourist site for Bergamo

Accommodation:

Accomodation is NOT INCLUDED. You need to book your own accommodation.

It is best to book a room or a flat within walking distance of the studio address as buses from and to Bergamo can be rare on the holidays.

Check Airbnb: several options are available, from a shared room to a 3-bedroom flat. Search for homes in Petosino.

Check also:

Ai Colli Bed & Breakfast (two double rooms)

Albergo Villa Priula

Angelo del Lotto

You must have your own Travel Insurance. Some airlines might offer Insurance. I buy mine from Coverwise.

Food: there are many affordable restaurants nearby, many little shops and a large supermarket 10 minutes walking from the studio.

Forest Bathing/ Hiking:

The nearby forest is within 10 minutes' walking distance from the studio.

SANTUARIO della Madonna di Sombrenoan easy walk, except the last 10 minutes which is very steep, but the panorama is worth it. It takes about 2/3 hours to go from and back to the studio.

If group and the weather permits, we could go to one or two of these longer hikes:

GALUSU': Going and coming back from the studio takes about 4/5 hours. It's a 725 mt mountain climb, so it can present some challenges. We could stop at PISGIU' for a light picnic before the GALUSU climb.

PERCORSO VITA: We would need to take a bus for about half an hour to reach Selino Basso, which the PreAlps surround. The Percorso Vita runs along the Imagna River, where I played and bathed millions of times as a child (it now has less water). The hike is relatively easy. We could have a great pizza at the FUMATA BIANCA or bring a picnic. It would also take about 4/5 hours.

UPPER TOWN - CITTA' ALTA: it is possible to walk to Citta' Alta from Petosino in about 1 hour via Parco dei Colli.

Please bring appropriate hiking footwear!o Also socks to use in the studio.
